I went home for Christmas and got to shoot my stepdad's .223 rifle. I have rifles in my house, but haven't actually shot one since I was in college. Even though the .223 is a fairly small round, I couldn't get over how loud it was!! I mean it was like BOOM!!!!!! Really fucking loud. (Missed the bullseye by a qtr inch from 100 yds on my first shot btw
)
Anyway, the .223 is the same bullet the M-16 shoots. I've heard the M-16 shot on tv, actually right now, because I'm watching lock and load with R Lee Ermey. It is just making a rat-a-tat sound. Now I know I'm listening to it on tv, but there is no way the shots from the M-16 were as loud as what I heard at Christmas. Why is that? It's the same bullet!! Anybody know the answer?
