SEC vs. Big XII

I would think that it's not too important these days because the conference champions for these two conferences would likely be in the four team playoff. Seems like it will end up being a consolation game, and maybe a way to appease the Texas/Texas A&M and Mizzou/Kansas fans that they will still have a chance at continuing their rivalries. I do like the fact that we'll have a chance to play a Big XII team once in a while.

Notre Dame and Navy opening their seasons in Dublin Ireland is just weird to me. And as if the Fighting Irish needed another element to help pander to the native Irish so that they get cheers in the stands, they feel the need to wear these ugly cleats. I hope Navy comes out wearing red white and blue and beats the ever loving shit out of them.

Here are the complete draft results this year. Afterwards, Butler signed on with the Steelers and Figgins signed on with the Ravens. Who do you think will have the strongest NFL career? I'm going to pick Butler on this class. He'll be punting until he's 45. Of the drafted players, I guess I'll go with Charles. I'm not sure I was ever overly impressed with him at Georgia, but I think that was because he was so hyped that he would get double teamed, and otherwise under utilized by Bobo's play calling. I think Anderson and Jones will both have great careers, but I predict them to be short. Linemen and their knees...

Aaron White signed on with the Falcons. Will probably be on the practice squad, at least for this season, but could he be the heir apparent to Tony Gonzalez?

Also, the Vikings released their kicker (Longwell) yesterday, which the Twitter world blew up about because of speculation that one Blair Walsh, whom they drafted in the fifth round, will be their kicker in the fall.

Among the class of 2012 is one Aaron Murray. Hard to believe he has 2 seasons of eligibility left. I wondered if I was in the same situation what I would do. I guess he has to take classes, so he'll probably pick an easy master's program to take a couple of classes in, and have a lot of extra time on his hands to get into trouble.

I believe that he will turn pro after this season, although I'm not sure he'll make a good quarterback in the NFL. He's got a hell of an arm, he can move around the field, and he's a decent leader, but he's just not built like a pro quarterback. He's short. He's got some strong stats, but not a lot of big wins. I think he crumbles under pressure (see the Florida game last season).

I think he's going to put a lot of pressure on himself to do well this year and put on a show for the NFL. If he has a moderately successful year in the stats columns like he has the past...
